Anegada 2009

It's no secret that we love Anegada. We just couldn't resist going back this year. But what really makes Anegada special are the people. They're always so friendly and welcoming. This time, we rented a car to explore the island and soak up all its stunning views. Driving through this flat island atoll is truly something to behold. The incredible variety of plants and animals is just amazing. By mid-morning, during our first snorkelling trip in Jack Bay, we were already spotting barracudas and stingrays. Another highlight of the trip was, of course, a visit to our favourite beach restaurant, where we indulged in the delicious Anegada lobster. This has almost become a tradition for us and never disappoints. In the afternoon, we were drawn to the opposite side of the island, with a view towards Virgin Gorda. There, the sea is so shallow that you can wade out for hundreds of metres. The light and colours are simply enchanting. We knew that the large hawksbill turtles would be coming to Jacks Bay later in the afternoon. So we drove back to swim with the hawksbill turtles.
